JO-ANNE YAU, LLM
ASSOCIATE / Civil Litigation, Employment Law, Business Law
JO-ANNE IS A VERSATILE COMMERCIAL LITIGATOR AND AN INNOVATIVE CORPORATE LEGAL COUNSEL.
Jo-Anne combines strategic negotiation and risk management to shape business-to-business relationships. She litigates disputes over commercial property, professionals’ liability, employment, expropriation, and contractual obligations. She scales growth, curates intellectual property portfolios, and guides complex models like franchising.
Jo-Anne weaves these traditional methods with emerging techniques such as governance of generative AI, and compliance with privacy, cybersecurity, human rights, and other regulatory matters. Additionally, she navigates corporate citizenship commitments, like equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) policies, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG law). Further, Jo-Anne represents those whose visibility makes their legal issues complex: Athletes, sports leagues, artists, performers, and social media personalities.
Outside the office, Jo-Anne convinces herself that she is keeping pace with her athletic daughter’s endeavours. Only one of them takes lessons in golf, skiing, snowboarding, climbing, swimming, and mountain biking…and it shows.
